Maybe its the isolation, but Corona seems to have spawned a lot of connectivity (and creativity!).
Today, May 24th, Yeshivat Hakotel has organized a day of learning in honor of Rosh Chodesh Sivan with speakers from across the spectrum of Orthodox Judaism. You can check out the schedule and the speakers here: vayichan.com.
It is going to be a veritable smorgasbord of Torah Classes with nine (!) parallel shiurim going on every half hour from 10 am to 2:30 pm EST. The titles look tantalizing and I get FOMO just from looking at the schedule.
I am going to be speaking at 1.30 pm EST ( 8.30 pm here in the Holy Land). You probably assume my class would be about the “feminine aspect of revelation” or something along those lines… but I resisted the urge :-). (maybe next year…:-).
Instead, the title of my class is “Say Yes to Love”, and its about the challenge of being in a love relationship–with people and with Hashem– and how Megillat Rut offers a paradigm of both running away from relationship and running towards one.
This is the link to the video (pre-recorded) of my class which will go live at 1.30 PM on Sunday. Her is the link to the zoomroom. Unfortunately the zoom recording is of much lower quality, so if you can please use this. And if you can’t make it, a written transcript will be available on the vayichan site,
It seems like this kind of event–an expression of beautiful Jewish unity–is a silver lining of the Corona cloud. I hope you get to taste some of the many offerings throughout the day.
In the meantime, wishing you a beautiful Shavuot,
